‘Art of a Hit’ Musical Horror-Thriller Acquired by Giant Pictures for North America

Giant Pictures has acquired North American rights to Art of a Hit, a musical horror-thriller.

The film is directed by Gaelan Draper and stars Ryan Donowho (“The O.C.”), Charlie Saxton (“Hung”), Tim Jo (“This Is Us”), Rob Raco (“Riverdale”), James Earl (“White Men Can’t Jump”), Allie MacDonald (“What/If”) and David Valdes (“Last the Night”). Draper and Saxton co-wrote and produced the project under their Dewey and Bug banner.

The film “follows a ’90s rock band frontman grappling with irrelevance. An eccentric producer invites the band to his French chateau to record, where they encounter unexpected challenges.”

Art of a Hit takes everything we love about the late ‘90s and early 2000s rock scene and jams it into a wildly creepy castle in the most beautiful place on earth: Dordogne, France. It’s funny, scary, messed up and honest — a story about what it’s like to be in a band and the insane fears of trying to make it as an artist. If you love late 90s rock, if you loved being in a band, you will love Art of a Hit,” Draper and Saxton said in a statement to Variety.

Rel Klein of Giant Pictures negotiated the deal with Saxton and Draper.

The film is set to stream later this year.
