‘Friday the 13th’ News Coming Soon

A return to Crystal Lake may be coming soon.

Despite how long it has been since a Friday the 13th film has been released, the slasher icon may soon be returning. BloodyDisgusting’s podcast spoke with Roy Lee, who produced The RingPoltergeist (2015), Blair Witch, IT (2017), and the upcoming Barbarian. During their discussion, Lee teased some interesting information.

While discussing Friday the 13th, Lee states, “that one is something that I would love to talk about. You may be hearing something by year’s end… on that front.” Roy Lee became involved with Friday the 13th in 2018 along with Lee and Doug Davison’s Vertigo Entertainment.

Delays in further installments of the horror icon has been a result of messy legal battles between Sean Cunningham, the original film’s director, and Victor Miller, the original film’s writer. In 2018, a judge ruled that Miller owns the original screenplay. However, Cunningham owns the character of adult Jason Vorhees.

This split in ownership has caused majored delays in the franchise. However, with this new information from Roy Lee, it seems as if some sort of agreement has occurred, and that we can expect further news of a new installment in the franchise.
