Brendan Gleeson will join Lady Gaga, Joaquin Phoenix, and Zazie Beetz in Todd Phillips’ The Joker sequel. It is unknown who Gleeson will be playing.
Phillips is returning to direct and co-write the script with Scott Silver. Not much is known about the sequel though it is believed that it will have musical elements and will also be set in Arkham Asylum.
Gleeson is the recipient of three IFTA Awards, two British Independent Film Awards, and a Primetime Emmy Award. He has been nominated twice for a BAFTA Award and four times for a Golden Globe Award. He stars in The Banshees of Inisherin which premieres later this year at the Venice Film Festival and followed up with a Gala premiere at the Toronto Film Festival.
Joker: Folie à Deux is set to release October 4, 2024.
