‘Barbarian’ is the Most Shocking Movie (Spoiler-Free Review)

Barbarian is the most shocking movie and has easily climbed into my top 10 of the year in what seems to be one of the best years for horror. Spooky season is upon us, and it feels great to be a horror fan because 2022 has been coming in strong. I recently got a chance to watch Barbarian, and this is a must watch. The film comes to us from Zach Cregger who was part of the sketch comedy show The Whitest Kids U Know. Cregger is following the same footsteps of comedian-turned-horror-icon Jordan Peele and like the latter, he shines.

Justin Long as AJ in Barbarian (2022)

I highly recommend going into Barbarian not knowing anything…don’t even watch the trailer for this one. The movie is a the-less-you-know the better type, and I’m being serious this was an insane movie. Barbarian‘s premise basically follows a young woman who finds out her Airbnb has been double-booked, leading her to staying with a mysterious guest. This all goes south rather quickly, and the twists and turns don’t hold back.

Barbarian Cast Soars

The movie is definitely going to keep you on your toes throughout and you won’t see it coming up until the end. Georgina Campbell was a wonderful choice to play the protagonist of the film as her performance carries many scenes. I really enjoyed seeing her handling of her character opposite of Bill SkarsgÃ¥rd and Justin Long. With SkarsgÃ¥rd and Long being horror veterans, it was great to see them in this as well. They both play two very different characters that add more weight to this movie as it progresses, each with their own personality.

A Killer Soundtrack

Barbarian has one of the best soundtracks I’ve heard all year and it’s been a good year for soundtracks. The movie did an amazing job at adding the music at just the right moments to build suspense and leave you wondering what’s next. A soundtrack that really gave me old school horror vibes like something I would hear in a horror movie from the 70’s and 80’s. It definitely felt like its own character at points and that’s what you want from a soundtrack.

Barbarian The Most Shocking Movie?

The only complaint I have about the movie is that I wanted more by the end of it. I was left wanting to explore more of the world that Barbarian set-up. I won’t give any spoilers, but the twists and turns definitely left me speechless. By the time the credits started to roll, I didn’t want it to end because I was just so interested in seeing what was next. It is really great to see original horror like this make it up to the big screen and I hope we see more of this in the future. I definitely recommend checking this one out due to the simple fact that this one is different.
