Marvel Studios has put a pause on its Blade project, which is based on the character by writer Marv Wolfman and artist Gene Colan.
Since parting ways with director Bassim Tariq, the studio is holding off on the film starring Mahershala Ali. The studio is currently searching for a new director and hopes to resume production early 2023.
This is not the first time that Blade has seen issues in production, with several past instances of script rewrites. Beau DeMayo is the current writer.
Despite extreme anticipation of the film since its announcement in 2019, Marvel is wanting to ensure that they get this project “right.” Blade originally was set to have a November 2023 release, but this may not be the case anymore.
