‘Friday the 13th’ Series Coming to Peacock
A Friday the 13th series is coming to Peacock. Titled, Crystal Lake, it is set to be a prequel series. It follows an extensive legal battle between the team of the original film.
Bryan Fuller (Hannibal, Star Trek: Discovery) serves as writer, showrunner and exec producer. A24 is the studio and Victor Miller (the first film’s writer), Marc Toberoff (Miller’s copywrite lawyer), and Rob Barsamian (producer of the first film) will executive produce.
The original Friday the 13th movie directed by Sean Cunningham, starred Betsy Palmer, Adrienne King, Laurie Bartram and Kevin Bacon. It follows a group of teenage camp counselors who are murdered at summer camp.
This is not the first series based on the iconic film. Friday the 13th: The Series aired for three seasons between 1987 and 1990, but it did not feature Jason or any other characters from the films. In addition, there is now the possibility for future films as a result of Miller’s and Barsamian’s agreement.
Plot details of the series are being kept under wraps.
