A teaser for Greta Gerwig’s upcoming film Barbie was released today.

The teaser debuted Friday on YouTube and is a spoof of 2001: A Space Odyssey.

“Since the beginning of time, since the first little girl ever existed, there have been… dolls. But the dolls were always and forever baby dolls until…” a voiceover says. Margot Robbie is then revealed wearing a retro black-and-white swimsuit. She lowers her glasses, winks, and the girls throw and smash their baby dolls.

There are also quick shots of Ryan Gosling as Ken, and other cast members such as Simu Liu and Issa Rae.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the film does find Barbie and Ken in the real world, where Barbie discovers the challenges of being a live woman. Gerwig co-wrote with Noah Baumbach.

Barbie is set to release July 21, 2023.
