2022 was filled with lots of amazing films of all genres. With so many great films, it’s hard to boil it down to my top ten, but I’ve managed to come up with a list.
1. The Fabelmans
The Fabelmans is definitely my favorite film of the year. Although it has a pretty long runtime, it never felt slow or dragged out. I felt every emotion with this film, and it was a really insightful look into Steven Spielberg’s life.

2. Holy Spider
Holy Spider is one of the most important films of the year, especially considering everything that is happening currently in Iran. Every actor in this film was also equally amazing.

3. Everything Everywhere All at Once
This film had it all and made me feel all sorts of emotions. Stephanie Hsu and Ke Huy Quan are especially great in Everything Everywhere.

4. The Menu
Although I watched The Menu more than once, I enjoyed each viewing equally. I love the commentary in the film as well as all of the humor.

5. Pearl
Mia Goth’s performance in Pearl was amazing, especially, her nearly 10-minute monologue. I really enjoyed getting to learn more about X’s villain.

6. Bones and All
Bones and All is a beautifully grimy film. It’s a film that you leave the theater and don’t stop thinking about.

7. Barbarian
Barbarian is another film that I watched more than once and still enjoyed. I especially loved the elements of humor throughout.

8. The Batman
I love the new take that this film took on a familiar character. I also thought that The Riddler was a really awesome character to see as the main villain.

9. Piggy
I feel like Piggy was underrated. It blended genres perfectly. Laura Galán’s performance was really good, and I hope to see more of her and director Carlota Pereda.

10. Tár
Tár truly had me questioning whether or not Tár was a real person — that’s how believable this film is written and directed.
