The next project of Robert Eggers, the creator of The Lighthouse, is being teamed up with his leading actor, Willem Dafoe, once again for the film, Nosferatu. Talks are being had for Dafoe to join the cast that already includes Lily Rose-Depp, Bill Skarsgard, and Nicholas Hoult. The writing and directing of the film is being done by Eggers, with Jeff Robinov, John Graham, Chris Columbus, Eleanor Columbus, and Eggers serving as producers.
A new take on the classic horror story is being brought to the screen in the form of a gothic tale of obsession. Set in 19th century Germany, the story follows a young woman who is haunted by an ancient vampire from Transylvania. No official statement has been made by Focus Features regarding the project and the character that Dafoe will be playing has yet to be announced.
The Return of Count Orlok
The iconic silent film from 1922, Nosferatu, tells the story of the vampire Count Orlok who becomes infatuated with the wife of a real estate agent while trying to purchase a home in Germany. Though it was an unauthorized adaptation of Bram Stoker’s “Dracula,” it narrowly avoided destruction. Despite the legal challenges that it faced, the film has stood the test of time and it appears that Count Orlok will be returning to the screen once again in the near future. The film has been an inspiration for many horror movie directors and has a huge fan following.
