‘Detective Pikachu’ Sequel Announced with Portlandia Co-Creator

Detective Pikachu sequel is on the way, let us rejoice! Legendary Entertainment is reportedly in negotiations with Jonathan Krisel, co-creator of Portlandia, to direct the upcoming live-action sequel of Pokémon Detective Pikachu. The sequel is based on the immensely popular Pokémon franchise and Chris Galletta will be responsible for writing the script.

The first film, released by Warner Bros on May 10, 2019, and directed by Rob Letterman, featured Ryan Reynolds, Ken Watanabe, Justice Smith, and Kathryn Newton. It has not been reported who would be returning just yet but of course we have to have Ryan Reynolds who voiced Pikachu.

For over 25 years, the Pokémon franchise has brought joy to fans of all ages. It’s no wonder that Pokémon is considered one of the most prosperous entertainment properties in the world. Jonathan Krisel, who co-created, wrote, and executive produced Portlandia, and also co-created, directed, and wrote Baskets for FX, is among the talented creatives behind the upcoming live-action sequel of Pokémon Detective Pikachu.
