Taika is moving on from superheroes to take on another juggernaut franchise in the likes of Star Wars. Variety is reporting that Taika is still working on his own Star Wars project which will have him directing but might also have him as a main character. We have seen Taika behind the camera already as we saw in his film Jojo Rabbit.
Taika Star War movie is still in development but what we do know is it will be an original idea not following the other storylines as he said to Total Film
“Look, I think for the Star Wars universe to expand, it has to expand. I don’t think that I’m any use in the Star Wars universe making a film where everyone’s like, ‘Oh great, well that’s the blueprints to the Millennium Falcon, ah that’s Chewbacca’s grandmother.’ That all stands alone, that’s great, though I would like to take something new and create some new characters and just expand the world, otherwise it feels like it’s a very small story.”
We might get the answers to what exactly Taika is working on and what’s next in Star Wars next month at Star Wars Celebration.
