Pedro Pascal Joins Ridley Scott’s ‘Gladiator’ Sequel

Gladiator 2 continues to add to its already stacked cast by adding the internet’s favorite dad Pedro Pascal to the cast. According to information from Deadline, it is reported that Pascal is currently in the final stages of negotiations to join Paramount’s upcoming untitled Gladiator sequel. Pascal will join a cast that already includes Paul Mescal as Lucius, Barry Keoghan, Joseph Quinn, Connie Nielsen, and Denzel Washington. The highly anticipated film will be directed by Ridley Scott.

This new installment follows the success of the 2000 blockbuster Gladiator, which achieved an impressive worldwide box office revenue of over $460 million. The film also received critical acclaim, earning 12 Academy Award nominations and winning five, including the prestigious Best Picture award.

In addition to directing, Scott will also produce the film alongside Michael Pruss from Scott Free and Doug Wick & Lucy Fisher from Red Wagon Entertainment. The script for the sequel was written by David Scarpa. The creative team from the original film, including John Mathieson (Director of Photography), Arthur Max (Production Designer), and Janty Yates (Costume Designer), will be returning as well. Paramount Pictures has set a release date of November 22, 2024, for the highly anticipated sequel.

The first Gladiator film was a co-production between Universal and DreamWorks. While DreamWorks will not be involved in the sequel, Universal retains the right to partner again when the project is packaged. What are your thoughts on Pedro Pascal joining the cast of Gladiator 2?
