This past weekend was looking a bit lackluster at San Diego’s Comic-Con, but when Marvel Studios took over, there was a lot of excitement and unveilings. Marvel went over a lot this weekend, including the first trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3.

Although the trailer hasn’t been released to the public just yet, here is a detailed description provided by Discussing Film :

Gamora doesn’t remember anything about The Guardians. Desperate, Peter Quill tries to remind her of their love and how much he misses her. This doesn’t faze Gamora, who tells Quill that she isn’t the Gamora that he knew and that she doesn’t even know his last name. Gamora also looks different; she has a new hairstyle that fits her new Ravenger look.

Baby Rocket is taken from a litter of raccoons and is then experimented on. Rocket as we have come to know him is not seen in any of the footage. The High Evolutionary fights an Abilisk, the squid type monster seen in the opening scene of Vol. 2. The song ‘Do You Realize?’ by The Flaming Lips plays, indicating the first song we heard on Awesome Mix Vol. 2.

Groot is now in his young-adult stage, having grown multiple arms in battle. There is an action sequence with each Guardian (except for Rocket) wearing different colored spacesuits. In another sequence, The Guardians are seen in comic-accurate costumes. Adam Warlock can also be seen in the footage. He looks like the Sovereign race seen in Vol. 2, except he does have the green Soul Jewel.

The description of the trailer sounds amazing and hopefully the trailer will be available to the public soon. Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 will release May 5, 2023.
