‘The Boys’ Panel: Chaotic Fun [Comicpalooza 2023]

Houston’s Comicpalooza was this past weekend in Houston, Texas, and we had the chance to check it out. There was plenty to see and do, including a panel with some of the cast of Amazon’s The Boys. Erin Moriarty who plays Starlight, Jack Quaid who plays Hughie, and Antony Starr who plays Homelander were all there, and their panel was hilarious.

Ernie Manouse moderated the panel, and balanced it well with both his own questions and audience questions. We learned a lot about what happens on set, as well as each of the actors experiences working on The Boys and with each other.

Before Being a Part of The Boys

A big part of the discussion was Erin’s, Jack’s and Antony’s expectations of the show before being a part of it. Erin mentioned being kind of put-off about her character being named Starlight, but once she read through the script, realizing that the show is a satire, which she loves. On the other hand, Antony hilariously described his audition as being angry and off-script, but this ultimately landed him the role.

What Its Like Working With Each Other

Just based on the panel and the way that the three interacted with each other, you could tell the three have a lot of chemistry and a great friendship, which Erin confirms. Erin went on to describe how in The Boys, each of their characters are dealing with a lot, and that it is extremely cathartic for her to be able to work with such hilarious people. However, she does mention that Kevin Moskowitz who plays The Deep, definitely struggles to separate himself from his character on set.

What’s Next?

A question about The Boys spinoff, Gen V, came up, and unfortunately, none of the actors could confirm nor deny if we will see their characters show up in the upcoming series. However, Antony encouraged everyone to watch Diabolical, which includes origin stories for The Boys, which feeds into Gen V. We also got to hear what is a pop-culture reference the actors would like to see in the show. Erin goes on to say that she would love to see a flash mob, but hilariously, Antony had no clue what this was.

And finally, the three confirmed that Season 4 is all shot and we can expect its release in 2024!
