The poster for Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things sets Emma Stone front and center.

The Frankenstein-like tale based on the 1992 novel by Alistair Gray, stars Stone alongside Willem Dafoe. Ramy Youssef, Jerrod Carmichael, Christopher Abbot and Mark Ruffalo also star.

It is described as “the incredible tale and fantastical evolution of Bella Baxter (Emma Stone), a young woman brought back to life by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter. Under Baxter’s protection, Bella is eager to learn. Stone, Lanthimos, and screenwriter Tony McNamara, reunite with this film after working together on The Favourite, which earned Stone an Oscar nomination. Since wrapping up Poor Things, the Stone and Lanthimos have begun working on another film called, And.

Poor Things releases theatrically December 8, 2023.
