The Exorcist Believer has made it clear with previous trailers that a double possession will be taking place, and with a new image shared by Empire, it is even more evident.

Directed by David Gordon Green, who previously handled the latest trilogy of Halloween films, he discusses the differences between the two iconic franchises: “The Halloween movies are in the slasher genre. They’re a place to play, and maybe have some campy fun. But this one was more researched and a bit academic. The narrative we were sculpting, and the relationships, were more dramatic. It’s a very different approach.”

The film stars Leslie Odom Jr., Jennifer Nettles, Olivia Marcum, Lidya Jewett, Ellen Burstyn, Ann Rowd, and Raphael Sbarge. Peter Sattler and Gordon Green wrote the script for Believer, which features a story by Green, Scott Teems and Danny McBride.

Here is the film’s synopsis: “When his daughter, Angela, and her friend Katherine, show signs of demonic possession, it unleashes a chain of events that forces single father Victor Fielding to confront the nadir of evil. Terrified and desperate, he seeks out Chris MacNeil, the only person alive who’s witnessed anything like it before.”

The Exorcist Believer releases theatrically October 13, 2023.
