Pet Sematary: Bloodlines is the newest addition to the Pet Sematary films. Being a prequel, the film expands upon the story that Jud talks about in the original film of Timmy and the dangers of Pet Sematary.

Set in 1969, the film follows a young Jud Crandall (Jackson White), who dreams of leaving his hometown of Ludlow, Maine. However, before he is set to leave with his girlfriend (Natalie Alyn Lind), he discovers that his old friend Timmy (Jack Mulhern) is miraculously back from the war. Concerned for Timmy’s wellbeing, Jud bands together with his childhood friends to fight the town’s ancient evil.

I honestly did not have much hope for this film, considering how disappointing sequels have been, however, I quite enjoyed Bloodlines. I was especially impressed with the film’s imagery; however, I think it held back when it came to the more brutal and gorier scenes.

The acting was also particularly great. I especially enjoyed Forrest Goodluck’s performance. Goodluck was really charming and funny, and he’s just a great actor overall. Every interaction with other characters in the film felt really honest and believable.
Overall, this is an enjoyable film, that isn’t really up there when it comes to the scares, but if you enjoy something more along the lines of a thriller, then this is the film for you.
We give Pet Sematary: Bloodlines a 3.75/5.
