During a press line for Blumhouse at New York Comic Con 2023, Jason Blum spoke about Spawn. The highly anticipated superhero film has been in talks for some time now, however, Blum was able to offer some updates.

Jason Blum: Yes, I’m going to bring the Blumhouse edge. It’s going to be edgy and original as compared to other superhero movies. It’s gonna definitely feel like the Blumhouse version of a superhero movie.
Spawn creator Todd McFarlane has worked on the script and, at one point, was going to direct the film. He also announced that Jamie Foxx would be playing the lead character, Al Simmons, aka Spawn. Blumhouse will help to really bring forth the horror elements of the character’s story.
Here is a synopsis of the comic: “The story follows Albert “Al” Simmons, a CIA agent who is murdered in duty, and five years after his death, returns to life as the demonic vigilante known as Spawn. While a strange assailant stalks the city, ripping out human hearts, another otherworldly being arrives.”
The film will potentially release sometime in 2025.
