Hideo Kojima announced a new game at The Game Awards 2023. The game is called OD, a new title from Kojima Productions.

“We are working with Xbox Game Studios and their cloud gaming technology to take on the challenge of creating a very unique, immersive, and totally new style of game – or rather, a new form of media,” said Hideo Kojima, Game Creator and Founder of KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS.

Kojima’s goal with OD is to make a new form of media merging gaming and film. “OD explores the concept of testing your fear threshold, and what it means to OD on fear – while blurring the boundaries of gaming and film.” So naturally, Kojima is partnering with an iconic director, Jordan Peele (Get Out, Us, Nope) to bring this to reality. While presenting, Kojima also revealed that he has other collaborators that he can’t announce just yet.

With the reveal, we also learned of the game’s actors: Sophia Lillis (Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves), Hunter Schafer (Euphoria), and Udo Kier (Flesh for Frankenstein). In the teaser, the actors each repeat the lines “The hungry purple dinosaur ate the kind zingy fox, the jabbering crab, and the mad whale started vending and cracking.”
