‘ENNIO’ Giuseppe Tornatore Documentary on Legendary Composer Opens February

Film Forum is pleased to present the US theatrical premiere of Giuseppe Tornatore’s (Cinema Paradiso) ENNIO on February 9. The film will open in Los Angeles at Laemmle NoHo on February 23 with a wider national expansion to follow in select markets

“Ennio Morricone’s soundtrack scores — for Sergio Leone’s “Dollars Trilogy”, Bertolucci’s 1900, THE MISSION — are well known, but this comprehensive portrait aims to take the full measure of his extraordinary career (over 400 scores for movies and television), including his early work arranging Italian pop songs in the late 1950s and early 60s. In an extensive interview filmed just before his passing in 2020, Morricone shares his creative process (including his innovative use of nontraditional sounds) with filmmaker/longtime collaborator Tornatore (CINEMA PARADISO), who weaves together a trove of film clips from six decades with reflections by Clint Eastwood, Quentin Tarantino, John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Dario Argento, Joan Baez, and Wong Kar-Wai, among others. “

From Music Box Films, Ennio is written and directed by Giuseppe Tornatore. The film features Ennio Morricone, Quentin Tarantino, Clint Eastwood, Dario Argento, Oliver Stone, Hans Zimmer, John Williams, and Wong Kar-Wai.
