It’s What’s Inside is one of the wildest movies we’ve seen at Sundance this year. The horror-thriller from Greg Jardin really takes you on a trip that will have you wondering what will come next.

I won’t say much about the plot, and I really advise that you go into this one not knowing much either. All you have to know is a group of friends get together for a pre-wedding party and one of the friends brings a mysterious suitcase. The suitcase contains something that will alter the lives of all the guests forever. I promise you, watching all of this unfold without a clue of what this is about will all be worth it.

Greg Jardin really shows that they have a lot of style from the get-go. It’s What’s Inside takes wild and bold choices when it comes to the camera and how it tells the story. Jardin does a great job at inducing a disorienting and wild experience with the film. The film is filled with some fresh style choices and gorgeous colors as well that just make it pop even more. The director’s use of neon colors elevates this film as it slowly turns into a funhouse nightmare. It’s a film that doesn’t try to take itself seriously and knows exactly what it’s doing. The crowd at Sundance was just having a grand time and made the film’s experience that much better.

At its core, the film is a thriller with some comedy bits throughout that land so well. Honestly, a lot of films don’t really execute these genres together well but for It’s What’s Inside, it works amazingly. Of course, this could only be achieved through great writing that Jardin has provided. The dialogue is sharp and quick and really keeps the pace going lighting quick. We also have the ensemble cast that have so many great moments together, both tense and funny. The cast consists of Brittany O’Grady, James Morosini, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Gavin Leatherwood, Devon Terrell, Nina Bloomgarden, Reina Hardesty, David W. Thompson, and Madison Davenport. We get a chance to meet each of these characters, each with their own unique style.

It’s What’s Inside is definitely a fun time and if you get the chance to see this with a crowd it’s worth it. The twists the film takes are just shocking and fun, leaving you with your jaw on the floor. Jardin takes full swings here and they truly pay off in the end. Definitely a name to keep an eye out for because Jardin definitely has the style and substance. It was one of the best experiences in a movie theater and we’re so ready to watch it again. It’s What’s Inside has all the makings to be a hit and a classic.

We give It’s What’s Inside a 4/5.
