Oscar-winning Bong Joon-ho will return with the brand new movie Mickey 17, which has been getting moved too much. The film recently moved to March 29, 2024, sadly we learned recently that Mickey 17 has once again been moved. Mickey 17 now arrives in theaters on January 31, 2025.
Robert Pattinson stars alongside Toni Collette, Steven Yeun, Mark Ruffalo and Naomi Ackie in Mickey 17, a science fiction thriller based on a 2022 novel.
Here’s the plot synopsis for Edward Ashton’s book
“The Martian meets Dark Matter in Edward Ashton’s high concept science fiction thriller, in which Mickey7, an “expendable,” refuses to let his replacement clone Mickey8 take his place.”

It’s such a shame that Mickey 17 will now be almost 2 years late of its initial release especially coming from a decorated filmmaker as Bong. The possibility for the move could be so the film can be screened at festivals. We’re not entirely sure if that is the case but is the only logical thing or also they want to take advantage of as many IMAX screens. 2024 is already filled with so many epics that would like to take advantage of the IMAX format and Mickey 17 seems to be another to add to the list. It would make sense if Warner Bros is just wanting and empty filled month to really take over the box office. Nonetheless, it is still a shame we have to wait but it should be a worthy wait with the filmmaker and packed cast.
Will you be watching Mickey 17 when it arrives in theaters next year?
