Scary Movie is returning to theaters soon, and this time it is being reboot.

According to Variety, Paramount is bringing back the Scary Movie franchise with a brand-new reboot movie, with a planned release date in 2025. “Paramount Pictures announced that it is partnering with Fast and Furious mega-producer Neal H. Moritz to resurrect the dormant franchise. Scary Movie is going into production in the fall of 2024, and should hit theaters in 2025.”

“Scary Movie is also being made as part of the Paramount’s first look partnership with Miramax, the studio behind the film franchise.  Miramax will fully finance the production, with Paramount handling distribution,”

Directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans and written by Marlon and Shawn Wayans (The Wayans also starred), the first Scary Movie was released in 2000. Starring Anna Faris and Regina Hall, the movie was a parody on horror films like Scream, and The Blair Witch Project. The success of that first Scary Movie paved the way for an entire franchise consisting of five films between 2000 and 2013.
