Mike Flanagan who is known for so many classic horror films from Oculus to Doctor Sleep could be making a new Exorcist film. Deadline reports tonight that Mike Flanagan is in talks to direct the next Exorcist movie.

It seems that Universal and Blumhouse look to be shuffling things around for the Exorcist franchise. The release of Exorcist Believer wasn’t as big as they expected it to be. Director David Gordon Green was initially on board to direct an entire trilogy of new movies in the franchise. Exorcist Believer was intended to be the first in the trilogy. The next in line would be Exorcist: Deceiver with a release date of 2025. Of course, after Green exited the franchise not too long ago, many were left wondering what would be next.

If the talks are true and a deal is finalized it will be interesting to see what direction Flanagan goes in. Believer left the film in a way that they can continue the main story or branch out. The ending to Believer saw Linda Blair the star of the original make their return. We’re curious to see if Flanagan will start where Green left off or take their own spin on the original. Let us know what you think about this news.

Are you excited if Flanagan joins the Exorcist universe?
