Konami had a lot to share in regard to their iconic Silent Hill franchise, including the release date and trailer of the Silent Hill 2 remake videogame, along with a sneak peek of the upcoming film, Return to Silent Hill. The upcoming film will also focus on the story in Silent Hill 2.

In the sneak peek, director Christophe Gans and producer Victor Hadida offer some insight into the highly anticipated film. From some clips, we definitely can see a direct comparison between the game and the film. Gans also goes into depth explaining how Silent Hill 2 is the most “adult” of the games and how “the film adds an emotional layer to the horror,” making “the horror even more disturbing, even more unsettling.”

When speaking on the 2006 film Silent Hill, Gans considered this film “like an epic journey of horror,” and that Return to Silent Hill is “a deep dive into psychological horror.” He also continues by explaining how production design was a huge part of the 2006 film, and that this is also a major part of the upcoming movie. However, luckily for him, everybody involved is a fan of the series and this has led to a high level of design due to everyone’s knowledge of Silent Hill.

Victor Hadida continues by re-emphasizing Gan’s commitment to Silent Hill, saying how he is “faithful and respectful to Silent Hill.” Something interesting to note is that like the first film, Return to Silent Hill features “creatures that are played by dancers and acrobats.” Also, the composer behind the first four game’s iconic music and the game’s producer and director, Akira Yamaoka, will be involved in the film’s soundtrack.
