June is officially here, and it’s filled with a lot of great films including Inside Out 2, A Quiet Place: Day One and some films that will see a limited run such as Ghostlight and Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person.

Friday, June 7
Bad Boys: Ride or Die – Directed by Adil & Bilall and written by Chris Bremner and Will Beall. Martin Lawrence, Will Smith, Joe Pantoliano, Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Paola Núñez, Jacob Scipio, and DJ Khaled reprise their roles from the previous film with Tasha Smith taking over the role of Theresa Burnett from Theresa Randle. “When their late police captain gets linked to drug cartels, wisecracking Miami cops Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett embark on a dangerous mission to clear his name.”
Handling the Undead – Directed by Thea Hvistendahl from a screenplay by Hvistendahl and John Ajvide Lindqvist. It stars Renate Reinsve, Bjørn Sundquist, Bente Børsum, Anders Danielsen Lie, Bahar Pars and Inesa Dauksta. “On a hot summer day in Oslo, the dead mysteriously awaken, and three families are thrown into chaos when their deceased loved ones come back to them. Who are they, and what do they want? Handling the Undead is a drama with elements of horror about three families, a story about grief and loss, but also about hope and understanding of what we can’t comprehend or control.”
Robot Dreams (Limited) – Written and directed by Pablo Berger. “In 1980s New York City, Dog assembles Robot as a companion, and they become best buddies. On a Labour Day outing to Coney Island, Robot’s metal parts rust, and he can’t move.”
Trim Season (Limited) – Directed by Ariel Vida and written by David Blair, Sean E. DeMott, Cullen Poythress, Megan Sutherland, and Ariel Vida. Starring Jane Badler, Bex Taylor-Klaus, Alex Essoe, Bethlehem Million, Ally Ioannides and Cory Hart.”A group of young people go to a remote marijuana farm where they hope to make quick cash, but they discover the location’s dark secrets and must try to escape the mountain on which they are trapped.”
I Used to Be Funny (Limited) – Written and directed by Ally Pankiw. Starring Rachel Sennott, Sabrina Jalees, Caleb Hearon, Jason Jones and Dani Kind. “Stand-up comedian Sam struggles with PTSD, and considers joining the search for a missing teenage girl she used to nanny.”
Friday, June 14
Inside Out 2 – Directed by Kelsey Mann and written by Meg LeFauve and Dave Holstein. The film stars Amy Poehler, Phyllis Smith, Lewis Black, Diane Lane, and Kyle MacLachlan reprising their roles from the first film with Tony Hale, Liza Lapira, Maya Hawke, Ayo Edebiri, Adèle Exarchopoulos, Paul Walter Hauser, and Kensington Tallman joining the cast. “Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust have been running a successful operation by all accounts. However, when Anxiety shows up, they aren’t sure how to feel.”
The Watchers – Written and directed by Ishana Night Shyamalan. Starring Dakota Fanning, Georgina Campbell, Oliver Finnegan, and Olwen Fouéré. “A 28-year-old artist gets stranded in an expansive, untouched forest in western Ireland. Finding shelter, she unknowingly becomes trapped alongside three strangers who are stalked by mysterious creatures every night.”
Ghostlight (Limited) – Directed by Kelly O’Sullivan and Alex Thompson, from a screenplay by O’Sullivan. Starring Keith Kupferer, Dolly de Leon, Katherine May Kupferer, Tara Mallen, Hana Dworkin, Tommy Rivera-Vega, Alma Washington, H.B. Ward, Dexter Zollicoffer, Deanna Dunagan and Francis Guinan. “When a construction worker joins a local theatre’s production of “Romeo and Juliet,” the drama onstage starts to mirror his own life.”
Tuesday (Limited) – Written and directed by Daina O. Pusić. Starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Lola Petticrew. “A mother and her daughter must confront Death when it arrives in the form of an astonishing talking bird.”
Friday, June 21
Kinds of Kindness – Directed by Yorgos Lanthimos from a screenplay he co-wrote with Efthimis Filippou. Starring Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons, Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley, Hong Chau, Joe Alwyn, Mamoudou Athie, and Hunter Schafer. “Three stories revolve around a man who tries to take control of his own life, a policeman whose wife seems like a different person, and a woman who searches for someone with a special ability.”
The Bikeriders – Written and directed by Jeff Nichols. Starring Jodie Comer, Austin Butler, Tom Hardy, Michael Shannon, Mike Faist, and Norman Reedus. “Over the course of a decade, a Midwestern motorcycle club evolves from a gathering place for local outsiders to a sinister gang, threatening the original group’s way of life.”
The Exorcism (Limited) – Directed by Joshua John Miller, from the screenplay he co-wrote with M. A. Fortin. Starring Russell Crowe, Ryan Simpkins, Sam Worthington, Chloe Bailey, Adam Goldberg, Adrian Pasdar, and David Hyde Pierce. “A troubled actor begins to unravel while shooting a horror film. His estranged daughter wonders if he’s slipping back into his past addictions or if there’s something more sinister at play.”
Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person (Limited) – Directed by Ariane Louis-Seize and co-written by Christine Doyon and Ariane Louis-Seize. Starring Sara Montpetit and Félix-Antoine Bénard. “Young vampire Sasha has a serious problem: she can’t kill. Her exasperated parents cut off her blood supply, putting her life in jeopardy. Sasha meets Paul, a lonely teen with suicidal tendencies who is willing to give his life for hers, and they begin a nocturnal quest to fulfill Paul’s last wishes.”
Fancy Dance (Limited) – Directed by Erica Tremblay from a screenplay by Tremblay and Miciana Alise. Starring Lily Gladstone, Isabel DeRoy-Olson and Shea Whigham. “Since her sister’s disappearance, Jax has cared for her niece, Roki, by scraping by on the Seneca-Cayuga reservation in Oklahoma. Every spare minute goes into finding her missing sister while also helping Roki prepare for an upcoming powwow.”

A Quiet Place: Day One – Written and directed by Michael Sarnoski. Starring Lupita Nyong’o, Joseph Quinn, and Alex Wolff, with Djimon Hounsou. “Taking place before the first film, a woman named Sam must survive an invasion in New York City by bloodthirsty alien creatures with ultrasonic sound hearing.”
A Sacrifice (Limited) – Written and directed by Jordan Scott. Starring Eric Bana, Sadie Sink and Sylvia Hoeks. “A psychiatrist must save his daughter from a cult after she falls in love with a boy whose mother is its charismatic leader.”
Janet Planet (Limited) – Written and directed by Annie Baker. Starring Julianne Nicholson, Zoe Ziegler, Elias Koteas, Will Patton, and Sophie Okonedo. “Enthralled by her own imagination, 11-year-old Lacy spends the long summer at home with her mother and three strangers.”
