The Harry Potter HBO series is making some progress, with a writer and director officially attached. Stemming from Succession, Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod will serve as writer and director, respectively.

Gardiner served as a consulting producer for seasons three and four of Succession; she will serve as showrunner and exec producer on the Harry Potter series. Mylod who directed over a dozen episodes of Succession, will likewise direct multiple episodes of Harry Potter and exec produce.

Harry Potter is produced by Warner Bros. Television and Rowling’s Brontë Film and TV. Rowling, Neil Blair and Ruth Kenley-Letts of Brontë Film and TV will exec produce alongside Gardiner and Mylod as well as David Heyman of Heyday Films, who produced the movies.

The series is slated for 2026.
