Scarlett Johansson was recently announced as the star in the next installment in the Jurassic World universe, which will be directed by Gareth Edwards and David Koepp.
This will mark Koepp’s return to the franchise; Koepp wrote the original screenplay for 1993’s Jurassic Park and the sequel to 1997’s The Lost World: Jurassic Park. In an interview with ComicBook, Johansson mentions that “The script is so incredible.”
She also continues by saying how she’s an “enormous Jurassic Park fan,” adding, “It’s one of the first films I remember seeing in the theater. I remember seeing it so vividly. It was like life-changing. It was mind-blowing. I cannot express how excited I am.” Also mentioning how long she’s been trying to join the franchise.
“I’m such an enormous fan of the franchise and huge nerd for it. I’m just like, I can’t even, I’m pinching myself,” Johansson said. “I’ve been trying to get into this franchise in any possible way for over 10 years. I’m like, ‘I’ll die in the first five minutes! I can get eaten by whatever! I’ll do the craft service!’ I’ll do anything for it. The fact that it’s happened in this way at this time just is actually unbelievable. I can’t believe it.”
Steven Spielberg, through Amblin, and Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley, through Kennedy-Marshall, will executive produce the new Jurassic World film.
Along with Johansson, the cast includes Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend, and Luna Blaise.
The film is slated for a 2025 release.
