Brendan Quinn, recent winner of Best Supporting Actor in a TV Series at the National Film Awards UK for his role in Netflix’s One Day, joins an ensemble of established and rising UK talent in Scene House. He stars alongside fellow Netflix alum Safiyya Ingar (The Witcher, Layla); Nell Williams (Blinded by the Light, Game of Thrones); Denzel Baidoo (Last Swim, Restless); Selina Jones (KAOS; Raised by Wolves); Aaron Teoh (Wicked); Ivy Freeman-Attwood (Two Neighbors).
Written and directed by Annabella Fazio, Scene House is executive produced by Sarah Carter, CEO of U.S.-based Cheshire Moon Productions, and produced by Lia Lee for Limehouse Pictures.
Scene House envisions a dystopian future where Actors inhabit an enclosed area called The Scene House – an unsettling hybrid of a theme park and museum. Here, Observers pay to enter and, for an additional cost, interact with the Actors. One of these Actors, played by Jones, begins to question their existence in The Scene House as the boundaries blur between performance and reality, unraveling the unsettling truth about their world and the greater one outside.
Quinn, Williams, and Baidoo all play Actors inside of this liminal place. Quinn and Teoh have an interaction that doesn’t go as planned as Teoh’s character prepares to quit his job. Ingar plays an Observer who visits regularly to interact with Baidoo and aspires to one day be an Actor in The Scene House themself.
London and LA-based actor Annabella Fazio makes her writing and directing debut with Scene House. Drawing from personal experiences throughout her acting career, Fazio’s proof of concept short film critically examines our societal obsession with celebrity culture, viewership, and the increasingly blurred trajectory between artistry and fame.
Anabella Fazio says: “Scene House is a physical manifestation of the concept of fame, and the film questions what it means to become a famous actor in our society. At some point, an actor becomes so valuable that they are protected and idolized for even more than their talents. I wanted to raise the question: What does it mean to reach that level of celebrity when your craft, and even your life, has been commodified?”
Executive Producer Sarah Carter’s multi-awarding winning film, In Her Name, world premiered at Tribeca Film Festival 2022 and went on to win the Audience Award. After being selected for Tribeca Films, a prestigious platform by the Tribeca Film Festival, the film had its official wide release with Giant Pictures and Drafthouse in June 2024. In Her Name is available to stream worldwide.
Sarah Carter, CEO of Cheshire Moon Production says: “Annabella’s passion and capacity to trust her vision and creative instinct, wherever it takes her, made it clear to me that she is someone worth investing in. When I read Scene House, I knew this was her breakthrough film. It’s a unique and skillfully crafted signature piece that will undoubtedly leave a mark. The extraordinary team of artists she has surrounded herself with on this project, including her devoted producer Lia Lee, is testament to her unquestionable place in the industry. I couldn’t be more thrilled to be on the production team.”
Principal production has successfully wrapped in London with cinematography by Ravi Doubleday (Inland). Ali Helnwein (Made in Ethiopia; In Her Name) is attached to compose an original score.
Quinn is represented by Avenue Agents, Nell Williams by 42 MP, Ingar by Caroline de Wolfe, and Jones and Baidoo are represented by United.
