Purdie Distribution has picked up for a day & date the multi-award-winning Salaryman Film production Tokyo Cowboy, the independent feature film debut from both acclaimed director/producer Marc Marriott (History Channel’s   Ax MenDiscovery Channel’s Roush Racing: Driver), and legendary producer Brigham Taylor (Tron: Legacy, The Jungle Book, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales and Tomorrowland, among others).

The film stars Japan’s own Arata Iura (After Life, Air Doll, and Like Father, Like Son among 50 films), Goya Robles  (EPIX Get Shorty,    11:55), Ayako Fujitani (The Last Ship, Man From Reno ), with Robin Weigert (HBO Deadwood, Bombshell ), and Jun Kunimura ( Kill Bill: Vol. 1,  The Wailing), and follows a Japanese businessman who goes on an unwitting journey of self-discovery when he takes a company trip from Tokyo to a Montana cattle ranch.

Tokyo Cowboy is produced through Salaryman Film.   Purdie Distribution will release Tokyo Cowboy in select US theaters as AMC Artisan Films on August 30th, 2024, with VOD to follow. For more info, visit the film’s official site, www.tokyocowboyfilm.com or visit www.PurdieDistribution.com.

A cinematic sibling of iconic films like Local Hero and Minari, “Tokyo Cowboy” was born out of filmmaker Marc Marriott’s profoundly impactful experience living in Japan years ago, as a foreigner in a foreign land. Marriott was an apprentice to Japanese master Yoji Yamada as he directed the 42nd film in the “Tora-San” series.   The most important key to personal transformation is people finding and embracing confidence in themselves to pursue the dreams they longingly desire — this is very much the case in the intimate and extraordinary Tokyo Cowboy. Tokyo Cowboy is a cross-cultural journey in both English and Japanese (with English subtitles), filmed in Japan and Montana and is a rich character driven drama featuring a wealth of talent both in front of the camera and behind it.
