Nikyatu Jusu‘s (Nanny) next film will be within the universe of David Cronenberg’s The Fly, according to Deadline.
Deadline details, “While the film’s plot is under wraps, sources stressed that it’s set in the universe of Cronenberg’s film, rather than a straightforward remake.”
Jusu is writing and directing the film for 20th Century Studios and Chernin Entertainment. Chernin Entertainment’s Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping are producing the new movie.
David Cronenberg’s The Fly (1986) was a remake of the same-titled Vincent Price horror classic from 1958, both movies based on a 1957 short story written by George Langelaan.
In The Fly, “When scientist Seth Brundle (Jeff Goldblum) completes his teleportation device, he decides to test its abilities on himself. Unbeknownst to him, a housefly slips in during the process, leading to a merger of man and insect. Initially, Brundle appears to have undergone a successful teleportation, but the fly’s cells begin to take over his body. As he becomes increasingly fly-like, Brundle’s girlfriend (Geena Davis) is horrified as the person she once loved deteriorates into a monster.”
