Jennifer Love Hewitt has officially closed a deal to return to I Know What You Did Last Summer, which she announced on social media. She joins her former co-star Freddie Prinze Jr along with new cast members Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers and Jonah Haur-King.

Jennifer Kaytin Robinson is directing the follow-up to the horror film franchise, which is written by Sam Lansky and Kaytin Robinson off a draft by Leah McKendrick.

In the reboot, “The model for the new take is the 2022 Scream reboot, which saw members of the original cast mix it up with a cast of young up-and-comers.”

Neal Moritz is producing. Sony Pictures will release the film in theaters on July 18, 2025.
