The feature film adaptation of Freida McFadden’s novel, The Housemaid, has received an official release date from Lionsgate. The Paul Feig (A Simple Favor, Ghostbusters) directed film arrives in theaters December 25, 2025.

In the suspense thriller The Housemaid, “Millie (Sydney Sweeney) is a struggling young woman who is relieved to get a fresh start as a housemaid to Nina (Amanda Seyfried) and Andrew (Brandon Sklenar), a wealthy couple. She soon learns that the family’s secrets are far more dangerous than her own.”

Michele Morrone also stars in The Housemaid.

Rebecca Sonnenshine (“The Boys”) adapted McFadden’s psychological thriller novel. The international bestseller was first published in 2022. There are other novels in the series: The Housemaid’s Secret, The Housemaid’s Wedding and The Housemaid is Watching.
