Jason Momoa has been cast as Lobo in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. The news was confirmed in a post by Momoa on Instagram.

The post, which you can view below included quotes from prior interviews, along with the caption “They called.” “I collect comics, and I don’t do so much anymore, but was always my favorite, and I always wanted to play Lobo, because I’m like, ‘Hello? It’s the perfect role,’” said the actor. Momoa went on to say that should DC come around asking him to play Lobo, it would be “a f*ck yeah.”

Lobo was created by writer Roger Slifer and artist Keith Giffen and was first introduced in Omega Men #3 in June 1983.

Momoa joins Milly Alcock, who plays the titular character, Matthias Schoenaerts Krem of the Yellow Hills and Eve Ridley who will play Ruthye Mary Knolle.

Plot details are currently under wraps, but it is based on Tom King’s 2022 comic book series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which Bilquis Evely illustrated. Craig Gillespie will direct from a script by Ana Nogueira. James Gunn and Peter Safran will produce, with DC EVP Chantal Nong executive producing. Production kicks off on January 13.
