Robert Eggers (Nosferatu, The Northman) is adding to his roster of films, with the announcement that he will write and direct a sequel to the Jim Henson classic Labyrinth for TriStar Pictures, Deadline reports this afternoon. This is in addition to the news yesterday of his 13th century werewolf movie Werwulf for Focus Features.

Eggers has “closed a deal” to make the movie for TriStar.

Deadline further details, “Plot details for Eggers’ Labyrinth are under wraps, but we’re told the film is a sequel, rather than a remake of Jim Henson’s 1986 classic.”

In Labyrinth, which starred David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly…

A 16-year old girl is given 13 hours to solve a labyrinth and rescue her baby brother when her wish for him to be taken away is granted by the Goblin King.

Eggers is co-writing the script with frequent collaborator Sjón (The Northman, Werwulf). Chris and Eleanor Columbus (Nosferatu, Werwulf) will produce alongside Lisa Henson.

Brian Henson will be executive producing Eggers’ Labyrinth sequel.
