HBO is releasing a new installment of Henry Hampton’s landmark 1987 series “Eyes on the Prize” titled, EYES ON THE PRIZE III: WE WHO BELIEVE IN FREEDOM CANNOT REST 1977-2015. This six-part anthology series illuminates the bold stories of people and communities who continue to work for equity and racial justice in the years since the birth of the American civil rights movement and will be premiering during Black History Month on Tuesday, February 25th on HBO & Available to Stream on MAX.
Continuing the original “Eyes on The Prize” tradition of immersive storytelling through dynamic archival footage with firsthand accounts from everyday people who rose within their communities to create change, the series delivers an emotional, informative, and inspiring tale that illuminates what we lived through and why the fight for equality must continue. More relevant than ever in today’s climate of uncertainty and powerlessness, the series answers the question, “What can I do? How can I make a difference?” It honors a collective history that serves as the foundation for much of today’s activism. It also honors Henry Hampton’s original vision by bringing together a diverse group of filmmakers—including Geeta Gandbhir, Samantha Knowles, Muta’Ali, Rudy Valdez, Smriti Mundhra, and Asako Gladsjo—to tell the untold stories of the people and communities fighting for Black lives and a better future in a changing America.
