Miramax and Jason Statham are reteaming on the action sequel The Beekeeper 2. Deadline reports today that filmmaker Timo Tjahjanto (The Shadow Strays, Mr. Nobody 2) has been set to direct.

Kurt Wimmer, who wrote the first film, is back to pen the screenplay. 

No sequel plot details as of yet, but The Beekeeper followed “a retired clandestine human intelligence operative who sets out for revenge after his kind-hearted landlady becomes the victim of a phishing scam that steals millions of dollars from a charity she runs.”

Production is set to begin this fall.
