The film will have its world premiere at SXSW ’25 in the 24 Beats Per Second category celebrating the harmony of music and film.
A sensory and exhilarating dive into the Dominican streets of Capotillo, 42ND STREET (LA 42) is a “story of resilience through art” from director José Maria Cabral, whose work has previously played Sundance Film Festival, AFI Latin American Film Festival, and Miami Film Festival.

A sensory dive into the lives of dancers and artists hungry for fame, clashing with police tactics and unorthodox views. 42nd Street unveils a defiant counter-culture in the Dominican urban scene—all unfolding on a bold, unrelenting 600-meter 42nd street.
