Jon Favreau (The Mandalorian) is developing a tv series live action/animation hybrid of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit for Disney+.

Favreau is writing and producing the project from Walt Disney Studios.

Oswald was created in 1927 by Walt Disney and featured in 27 animated shorts. However, in 1928 Universal took control of the character, leading to Disney’s creation of Mickey Mouse. The Walt Disney Co. acquired the trademark in 2006.

Favreau directs and produces the upcoming feature, Lucasfilm’s The Mandalorian and Grogu, set for release in May 2026.
