The Zach Cregger (Barbarian, Weapons) directed Resident Evil has received a release date of September 18, 2026, from Sony.

Cregger co-wrote the film with Shay Hatten (Ballerina, John Wick: Chapter 3 & Chapter 4).

Plot details are under wraps but it “apparently harkens back to the original Capcom game’s horror roots.”

Constantin Film is producing and co-financing the film. Constantin’s Robert Kulzer, Vertigo Entertainment’s Roy Lee (Barbarian, Minecraft) and Miri Yoon (Woman of the Hour, Weapons) and PlayStation Productions are also producing.

Sony will release Cregger’s Resident Evil September 18, 2026.
