The follow up to Zach Cregger’s Barbarian has been one of the most anticipated films of the year. Weapons is described as a genre bending film with a stacked cast. Cregger’s film includes Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, Alden Ehrenreich, Benedict Wong, Austin Abrams, Amy Madigan, and June Diane Raphael. The new film from Cregger was expected to arrive in January of 2026 but has now been propelled to 2025. Weapons will be releasing this summer on August 8th, 2025, which means there’s a ton of confidence in the film. All of this has also caused a shakeup which saw the new PTA and Leonardo DiCaprio movie to move as well. Maggie Gyllenhaal’s Bride of Frankenstein film as well has moved on the schedule.

We still don’t know much about the new Weapons movie which sees Cregger coming back to the horror genre. All we have is a small synopsis of what we can expect. Check it out below:

An interrelated, multistory horror epic about the disappearance of high school students in a small town.

The film already had a lot of hype surrounding its release due to the success of Barbarian. I was a huge fan of Cregger’s directorial debut and am eagerly anticipating this new film which sounds bigger in scope. Are you excited for Weapons this summer?
