Sherman Augustus (Stranger Things) and J. Alphonse Nicholson (P-Valley) have joined the cast of HBO’s Lanterns, Deadline reports.

Augustus will play John Senior, John Stewart’s father. Nicholson will play the young version of John Senior.

The series, from Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof and Tom King, “follows new recruit John Stewart (Pierre) and Lantern legend Hal Jordan (Chandler), two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, Earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.”

Augustus joins leads Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre and series regular Kelly MacDonald.

Cast also includes Poorna Jagannathan, Ulrich Thomsen, Jason Ritter and J. Alphonse Nicholson.
