A trailer for sports horror, Him, was presented at CinemaCon.
Here’s a description of the trailer courtesy of Deadline:
From the trailer, which has Wayans’ acerbic coach’s voice-over, it appears it’s some sort of Satanic compound with goat images, people drench in blood and alluring, scantily clad women.
The first look shows football stadium with Wayans’ v.o.: “Do you want this? I said, do you want this? Training, lifting, running, sweating, intense. Talent is how hard you are willing to work, no days off, mostly we grind. I am never good enough. I am never good enough.” Two helmeted players knock heads. And things get weird, supernatural, and the first football horror film is here.
“You have to ask yourself what are you willing to sacrifice. Then it’s football with flashes or horned creatures, monsters, ghost, and its clear. You sacrifice a lot.”
Justin Tipping (Kicks) will direct the sports-themed psychological horror tale for Monkeypaw and Universal. Based on a pitch by Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie, the film centers on a “promising young athlete who is invited to train with a team’s retiring star.” It’s described as “a blood-chilling journey into the inner sanctum of fame, power, and the pursuit of excellence at any cost.”
Marlon Wayans will star alongside Julia Fox (Uncut Gems, Presence), Tyriq Withers (“Atlanta”), Tim Heidecker, Jim Jefferies, and Grammy nominee Tierra Whack.
Jordan Peele will produce the upcoming horror movie alongside Win Rosenfeld, Ian Cooper, and Jamal Watson. Executive producers are David Kern and Kate Oh.
Him is currently set to release in theaters on September 19, 2025.
