Gabrielle Union (The Inspection) has joined the cast of IFC Films and Shudder’s Forbidden Fruits.

The film marks Meredith Alloway’s feature debut. Alloway co-wrote the film with Lily Houghton.

Union joins previously announced Lili Reinhart, Lola Tung, Victoria Pedretti, Alexandra Shipp and Emma Chamberlain.

Forbidden Fruits follows “Free Eden employee Apple, who secretly runs a witchy femme cult in the basement of the mall store after hours – with fellow fruits Cherry and Fig. But when new hire Pumpkin challenges their ‘girl boss’ ways, the women are forced to face their own poisons or succumb to a bloody fate.”

The film is an adaptation of playwright Lily Houghton’s stageplay Of the Women Came the Beginning of Sin and Through Her We All Die. Alloway and Houghton are co-adapting.

It is produced by Mason Novick, Diablo Cody (Jennifer’s Body), Trent Hubbard, and Mary Anne Waterhouse.
