A TV adaptation of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is in the works from Amazon Prime Video.

The series is based on the book of the same name by Wang Dulu.

The official logline for the series states:

“Amidst stunning landscapes and spectacular action, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon follows Shu Lien and Mu Bai, two star-crossed warriors, as they struggle between forbidden love and the pull of modernity — caught between preserving their way of life or embracing a future together.”

Jason Ning is writing and executive producing the adaptation, with Ron D. Moore serving as executive producer along with Maril Davis via Tall Ship Productions. Johnny Levin, Roy Lee of Vertigo Entertainment, and Hong Wang and Qin Wang of the Wang Dulu Estate also executive produce. Ying Lou is co-executive producing. Sony Pictures Television, where both Ning and Moore are under overall deals, will produce.

“Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” was originally published between 1941 and 1942 and has been adapted for the screen several times.

Deadline first reported on the project.
