TINY LIGHTS, a poignant and acclaimed drama from Czech director Beata Parkanová, will make its North American premiere on Film Movement Plus on July 11.

TINY LIGHTS is seen through the wide eyes of six-year-old Amálka, who adores her cat, her parents, and her beloved grandparents. It’s a warm summer day, and all she wants is for everything to unfold just as it always does. But something is different. Her parents have locked themselves in a room, their voices rising behind the closed door—strange, tense, unfamiliar. Amálka doesn’t understand what’s happening, only that something has shifted.

With sensitive, imaginative direction from Parkanová, TINY LIGHTS captures a family’s unraveling through the delicate lens of a child: glimpses through keyholes, muffled words, and a world viewed from waist height. As the day draws to a close, Amálka senses a change she can’t yet name. She falls asleep feeling the ache — but also carrying a quiet, new strength gained on the path to growing up.

Starring Mia Bankó, Elizaveta Maximová, Veronika Zilková and Martin Finger.

It is produced by Vojtěch Frič, Přemysl Martinek, Martin Palán, Ondřej Kulhánek, Maroš Hečko and Peter Veverka.
