DreadXP’s VILE: Exhumed original released was delayed, and now developer Final Girl Games has announced that the game has been banned from Steam.
In an update from Final Girl Games’ Cara Cadaver, Steam has banned the narrative horror game from the service over “sexual content with depictions of real people,” despite all sexual content in the game being implied.
“I refuse to censor or make changes to the game, I will not retell a story about these topics in a way to make people who don’t understand it more comfortable,” says Cadaver.
In a press release, DreadXP noted that “Cara and the DreadXP team are actively working on a solution to ensure this important piece of media about the dangers of misogyny, parasocial relationships, and the ensuing violence against women can be accessed by those who wish to play it.”
