Matt Smith has landed a villain role in Shawn Levy‘s Star Wars: Starfighter.

Smith joins Ryan Gosling and Mia Goth.

The film is written by Jonathan Tropper.

Set five years after The Rise of Skywalker (2019), the new installment is set to go into production this fall and premiere May 28, 2027, exclusively in theaters.

Gosling called the project “a great story with great and original characters,” as well as “so much heart and adventure,” adding: “There is not a more perfect filmmaker for this particular story than Shawn.
