Neon has acquired North American rights to Japanese thriller Exit 8.
The film world premiered at the Cannes Film Festival as part of the midnight section and will make its North American debut at the Toronto International Film Festival in the Centerpiece section.
Exit 8 follows “a man trapped in an endless sterile subway passageway, who sets out to find Exit 8. The rules of his quest are simple: do not overlook anything out of the ordinary. If you discover an anomaly, turn back immediately. If you don’t, carry on. Then leave from Exit 8. But even a single oversight will send him back to the beginning.”
Japanese filmmaker Genki Kawamura (Monster, Suzume) wrote and directed the film. Kawamura wrote the film with Kentaro Hirase, adapted from the game by Kotake Create. It stars Kazunari Ninomiya, Yamato Kochi, Naru Asanuma, Kotone Hanase, and Nana Komatsu.
Neon plans a theatrical release in early 2026.
