The film marks the feature debut of Chris Marrs Piliero, best known for his bold, stylized music video work and starring Sean Gunn, Jermaine Fowler, Aaron Holliday, Michael Abbott Jr, Simran Jehani, Amogh Kapoor, Will Brandt, Paige Searcy, and Harley Bronwyn. 

Here’s the synopsis:

When Duke goes on a frenzy of reckless deepfake creations, his callous disregard for the consequences reveals a chilling truth: with just a few clicks on a phone app, anyone can fabricate a convincing, deceptive video of an unsuspecting victim — and ruin their life… or end it.

APPOFENIACS will have its North American premiere at this year’s Fantastic Fest.
